Dr. Lira practices Pulmonary and Internal Medicine in Chula Vista, California. He performed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital. He went on to the St. Louis University Medical School for his fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine, and subsequently served as an instructor for the Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Division. In 1980, Dr. Lira moved to Chula Vista to begin his private practice. Dr. Lira's extensive medical career includes, but is not limited to: supporting the St. Louis Division of Health Tuberculosis Outpatient Clinic; Medical Director of the Respiratory Therapy Departments at both Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center and Scripp-Mercy Hospital in Chula Vista; Medical Director of the Eastlake Sleep Center; Founder of the South Bay Pulmonary Medical Group; and he has served in multiple Medical Staff Leadership and community positions. Most recently Dr. Lira completed his term as hospital Chief of Staff at the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center in South Bay, San Diego.
