Dr. Jessica Gomez is a San Diego native. She graduated from UC San Diego and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and earned Provost Honors. She received her Medical Degree at UCLA School of Medicine where she also performed basic science research on models for gene therapies in conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD). She presented her research at both national and international conferences.

She is a board-certified ophthalmologist and specializes in medical and surgical disorders including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes, retinal vein occlusions and uveitis.

Dr. Gomez is a fluent Spanish speaker and prides herself in delivering outstanding medical and surgical care to her patients. She understands the importance of good bedside manner and takes the time to carefully listen to her patient’s concerns. She believes that a doctor’s role is not only to treat disease but also to make sure patients feel heard and cared for.
